About the Journal

PJE is devoted to original inquiries in education, to the evaluation and synthesis of educational scholarship, and to scholarly commentary on educational practice. The Journal aims :

  • to bridge and integrate the intellectual, methodological, and substantive diversity of educational scholarship

  • to encourage a vigorous dialogue between educational scholars and practitioners across a full spectrum of education—from early childhood to adult education—including matters of policy and governance and of the management and conduct of schools, colleges, and universities.

The Journal welcomes scholarly writing on a variety of educational topics, from differing conceptual, methodological, and substantive approaches. Four kinds of papers are especially encouraged:

  • research papers addressing the sustainable development goals (SDGs)
  • scholarly writing of other kinds—for example, theoretical statements and philosophical arguments
  • critical syntheses of a field of educational inquiry; and
  • integrations of educational scholarship, policy, and practice.

Manuscripts will be reviewed for the significance of the problem, the originality of the contribution, the cogency of the method and argument, and the crispness and clarity of prose.

Authors who wish to respond in print to a book review are encouraged to submit a brief response of no more than 500 words. Reviewers will be given the opportunity to respond in the same issue.
